Thanks Gerri,
I have been networking with many colleges and universities whose connections have been extremely helpful. At the Hall of Fame, one of the most unique challenges we face is the variety of departments seeking interns and the type of interns we generally hear from. While we are a museum, we receive a large number of applications from sports management students looking to work for a Major League team. I cross-market to museum studies, library science, history, accounting, business and many other majors to ensure we receive a wide variety of applications that apply to the departments here. The issue is how to bring all of these various disciplines together and of course, to teach students about museums and the non-profit sector.
We receive applications from hundreds of students each year. I wonder how many of them even know we are a museum.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Melissa: One option would be to contact Universities/Colleges that offer Museum Studies Programs. It has been my experience that internships are part of these programs & are collaborative efforts between the University/College & Museums. Hope this helps.

I am the intern coordinator at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY. I would like to connect with other museum professionals who work with interns or who have an established intern program at his/her museum. I have searched the archives of this list serve and AAM's website and am surprised to find no information on internships, other than internship positions openings. I'd like to know if there are others out there dedicated to intern education in the museum. Melissa Krok Assistant Manager, Education Programs [log in to unmask] 607-547-0313
