I have just been given the job of coordinating all the text that appears on
a new gallery we are developing. To help me to attain quality, consistency,
suitability for different age groups and so on, I want to produce a style
manual for contributors.

Has anyone out there produced something of this kind already for their own
museum? Would you be able to let me see a copy in electronic or paper form?

Has anyone got good sources for research into readability, legibility, word
and construction frequency, vocabulary at various ages, etc.?

And can anyone recommend material about what text is actually supposed to
_do_ in a gallery? I am currently reading Beverly Serrell's excellent
"Exhibit Labels" - what is your favourite source of wisdom?
