Community Programs Coordinator

The Morris Museum of Art, located in Augusta, Georgia, collects, preserves, researches, exhibits and interprets American works of art focusing upon the American South. An award-winning education department, consisting of three full-time professional staff and forty-five volunteer docents, delivers pre-service and in-service training, curriculum-based resources, and targeted programs for students, youth, adults, and seniors that emphasize research-based, interdisciplinary approaches to the study and interpretation of Southern art.

The Morris Museum seeks candidates for the full-time position of Community Programs Coordinator. Under the direction of the museum’s Curator of Education / Deputy Director, the Community Programs Coordinator is responsible for the development, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of all public programs.  Additionally, the Community Programs Coordinator develops selected tours and outreach activities for youth (non-school), special needs, family, adult, and senior audiences.

The successful candidate will be a self-starting and industrious individual with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, art history, museum education, or art education. Preference will be given to individuals holding a graduate degree in one of these disciplines. Previous museum employment and/or the completion of a museum internship are strongly desired. Candidate must have above average writing, speaking, organizational, and interpersonal skills and be detail-oriented. Computer literacy, particularly in word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing, and familiarity and facility with audio-visual equipment are required. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel occasionally. Salary is commensurate with experience.
