Hidden Assets is a breakfast event in New York City, on October 1st, 1998, where we will explore the challenges and opportunities of leveraging museum's existing content and translate it into successful new media products, solutions and services. With the wiring for schools across the nation going at an increasing rate, new opportunities exist for creating multimedia content for this channel. One of the questions we will ask is can museums be a source for this content. Hidden Assets will provide a forum for the museums, new media and software communities to explore the technologies, strategies, and pitfalls of museum content development, implementation and distribution.

Topics that will be covered are:

- what are the missing pieces of museum's technology infrastructure
- what is the relevance of museum's existing content for new media
- what are the successful models
- what are the target markets
- who would make appropriate partners
- what are the new channels of distribution

This event is co-sponsored by the New York New Media Association,
the New York Software Industry Association, and the Consolidated
Edison Economic Development Department, and Unified Field. This breakfast will serve as the kickoff for a Museum Special Interest Group.

Admission:
$20 for non-members of either NYSIA, or NYMA
$10 for members of either NYSIA, or NYMA

Location, Transportation and Time
The exact location is Con Edison Headquarters at 4 Irving Place - 19th
floor auditorium (there will be someone in the lobby directing guests
and a sign).

Square 14th Street or the N/R also to Union Square

Breakfast Schedule
Date: October 1st, 1998
Registration & Breakfast 8:00 AM to 8:30AM
Panel 8:30AM to 9:45AM

Panel:
We are inviting a total of four panelists, possible one each
from the museum application development, a new media developer,
a distribution channel/access provider, and an educational software
publisher. The museum developer could provide an insider's perspective on
developing new media projects, the scope of how much content is in
museums storage, and which of it is relevant for interactive products.
From the access providers and publisher we can get the needs and
the market point of view. The new media developer can provide
what formats and strategies work.
