one for me. i had only one opportunity and i have been doing everything under the sun!!! i am thinking of taking a job in retail and using the rest of the days to volunteer. but what i have learned it is important to volunteer SMARTLY. i was docenting for awhile and found it fun and I learned a lot about pedagogy, but it was more of a down grade compared to interning. I know I am capable of so much more: research, education, curation.. I think that how you volunteer and what you do is very important. find a project, or suggest one at a museum.

Taking short unpaid internships gives you experience but I can't get a pet, a long-term apartment or create a social life. I graduated in December with a degree in Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors so I haven't been looking too long but there are so few options out there. I think I'll try my hand at the lottery!

I have completed an internship at National Museum of Natural History in the exhibits department and is currently a zooarchaeological/collections intern at the Museum Support Center till this May. Any recent graduates here that have the same frustrating experience? Those internships certainly help keep me sane professionally and personally but I certainly need to begin LIVING. I want to add one thing that I was more than qualified for one position at National Museum of Natural History but didn't break through the annoying human resources "wall". My colleague who was qualified to the maximum also applied for the same position got the same result.
