Type of Employment:	Full Time (40 hrs/week)
Salary:	Starting salary is between $41,135 and $49,747
per year depending on experience and qualification,
plus excellent benefits. This position is in pay
schedule and range 81-03. A twelve-month probationary
period will be required. This is a non-represented
position.
Special Qualifications:	Must possess a valid driver’s
license upon appointment for independent travel around
and between sites.

This position is located at Old World Wisconsin (OWW)
in the Historic Sites Division of the Wisconsin
Historical Society.  Old World Wisconsin (OWW) is a
576-acre living history museum of rural life located
near Eagle in rural Waukesha County, 35 miles from
Milwaukee. OWW is the largest of nine historic sites
of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, one of
the nation’s premier public history enterprises. The
position reports to the site director at OWW.
Job Duties: 
This position has primary responsibility for
coordinating all the operational aspects of this
living history museum, with responsibility for
overseeing operations, staff hiring and scheduling,
resolving staff conflicts, establishing and enforcing
policy, maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility
services; food service, security systems, construction
and maintenance of historic and contemporary
buildings, and quality of guest services. The
incumbent acts in support of the Museum Director and
assists with all aspects of museum programming.
Special Notes: 
Must possess a valid driver’s license upon appointment
for travel around and between sites.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Ability to use proper management techniques to manage
restoration and construction projects to ensure they
are completed on time and within budget. Advanced
supervisory skills to effectively manage diverse staff
sections and individual staff. Advanced knowledge of
creation of restoration and construction proposals.
Advanced knowledge of exterior and interior historic
building restoration and maintenance techniques.
Ability to read and comprehend topographic maps and
building blueprints. Knowledge of utility systems
(electric, water, HVAC, telephone, sanitary). Working
knowledge of a variety of food service operations
(cafeteria, banquet, buffet, wedding receptions, snack
stand, and bar service). Working knowledge of radio
communications systems and their operation. Working
knowledge of tourism industry. Familiarity with
marketing and promotion. Knowledge of 19th-century
Midwest and American history and architecture and
sensitivity to historic site interpretive methods.
Good computer skills are also required.

professionals including performance planning and
evaluation and handling disciplinary problems, etc. Be
sure to include the type of setting where you obtained
the experience;
5.	Facilities management experience, including
experience developing facilities plans or manuals,
HVAC, plumbing or electrical experience, custodial or
security management;
6.	Experience in the field of tourism and marketing,
including experience developing sales promotions,
attendance generation, revenue generation, educational
outreach, and special events planning;
7.	Retail or food service management or supervision
experience
