Hello,
I wonder if anyone knows of good books/articles concerning the history of
exhibitions in American art museums in general, especially re. the growth
of the 'blockbuster' exhibition (pros and cons). Thus far I have the Hoving
book(s) and several excellent NY Times articles. Any strictly historical or
chronological accounts would be great, as would anything regarding ideas of
elitism vs. education/ permanent collection vs. blockbuster, etc.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!
Thank you,
Ellen J. Holdorf
