Some museums have an Executive Director and one or two Associate
Directors. In this arrangement, there is typically an A.D. for programs
(education, curatorial, exhibitions, etc.) and an A.D. for
administration (finance, human resources, building management). If
there is only one A.D., s/he will oversee the functions that the
Executive Director is less comfortable with. If the E.D. is more of a
scholar and hired to set the artistic and mission direction, the A.D.
will handle the administrative aspects, and if the E.D. is more of a
business/finance/development type, then the A.D. will oversee the
curatorial/collections aspects.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Co-Directors?

I am posting this for another organization, but they are curious if
there
are other museums that have some type of co-director arrangement, or do
you
call them something like Executive Director & Program Director? They
would
like some ideas.
Thanks
David
