Elizabeth, the library consortium here purchased Endeavor along with
EnCompass, but I haven't had a chance to work with it yet. I did go for
a two-day preview over a year ago, and these are my comments:

This is a new product, and the demonstrator was unsure about a lot of
its capabilities. They do seem to listen to their clients, so maybe
later versions will incorporate different features. With EnCompass, the
database will either be entirely open to the public, or entirely closed
to it. I wanted to use it to both manage the collection (a strictly
private, internal procedure) as well as provide access to the public,
and at this stage EnCompass just can't do both. However, if you are
just looking for a product for internal management this wouldn't matter.
You can select the metadata standard you will use to describe your
collection: MARC, EAD, DublinCore, or a customized DublinCore, and all
your fields are automatically set up.

In our consortium, only the library at Loyola in Baltimore has used
EnCompass extensively. I believe they are scanning master's theses, but
I'm not sure. I'd also be very interested in hearing about how well
EnCompass works.

Subject: Using Encompass for collections management

We are investigating the possibility of using the Endeavor product
Encompass as a collection management database program. If anyone out
there
has experience with this and can share their positive or negative
comments
regarding this database, please respond to me off line. Thanks very
much,
Elizabeth Schlatter
