I know how frustrating it is to offer your help and not receive any
encouraging, immediate response. Coming from the other side of the fence, I
have learned how much more time and effort it takes to coordinate
volunteers and make sure their talents are effectively used. It takes a lot
of time and organizational skill to put jobs and people schedules together
appropriately. Some people are daunted by the task; some don't want to even
deal with it, even though there always IS a lot of stuff to be done.

If they can't get their stuff together, try another museum, or another
organization. Sometimes they just have to get used to you, to get to know
you and what they can trust you with. Keep trying!
