I missed the original message that started this discussion but I am
interested in hearing from you or anyone else about the place education
has on musuem web sites.  From what you've seen, do you find what's
offered appropriate for use in the classroom?  Comments....

Dear Jim:

It is a very interesting issue that you raise. I wonder what criteria do
you use in estimating successfulness of museum sites.

I am currently doing a study of museum home pages and face the same
problem.
My approach is, what do museum pages have in common, what seems to be a
necessary attribute of a museum site on the web, what works and what does
not.
I am particularly interested in small museums having their sites on the
web.
What difficulties do they face?

I would really appreciate if you could share with me any references on
recent writings on the subject. And here are some helpful web pages with
general information which, I hope, can be of help in your research:
