Ok, you guys, and I don't mean Jennifer in specificity. Somehow,
you're missing the picture. You're sending stop notes to OUR list
server email address instead of to the email address of the party who
posted to the list. This is damned close to dog chasing its tail.
First off, ignore this post if possible. It tells you if you want to
stop the email from them post to them you don't want them to do.
According to Tourbus, a free, email, twice weekly list that discusses
internet sites and dispels urban myths and legends, one should not
respond to these notes at the addresses they provide because, more
often than not, all that does is confirms your email address as being
valid.
The same goes for sites that say sign my guestbook and, enough people
do so, some child will get money. It's for email harvesters. And no,
you won't get a free trip to Disneyworld either by Walt Disney Jr. if
you send the same silly email note to as many people as possible.
It's a myth perpetuated by email harvesters.
I simple look at some of the lists that describe email lists will show
you that marketing lists abound on the net. One should exercise
caution with these.
But typing stop to the same list we're on is damn funny.
I've been on email lists (a huge volume) for the better part of two
years. At first, I was scared to death about getting the signons and
signoffs correct. Truly, they're not that hard, and they're veritably
the same.
I'm thinking of holding a seminar on how to do it and charging a whole
lot of money since it's becoming painfully obvious that a bunch of
people can't figure out the instructions given to them when they
arrived.
