The State Historical Society of North Dakota has recently extended the application deadline to December 15th for a collections internship. Internships - Vacancy Announcement

Anticipated duration of internship: Full time, 12 weeks minimum, 6 months maximum. Length flexible, start date negotiable.

Rate of Pay: $14.00 per hour

Summary of Work
Assist the assistant curator, the curator of collections management and the registrar (Museum Division) with collections management and registration activities. The intern will have a chance to work on a variety of tasks including accessioning, cataloging, and assisting with the agency's traveling exhibit program. The intern will receive practical experience in all aspects of registration and collections management as well as other areas of museum work.

Duties and Tasks
Inventory, recataloging, and rehousing of a section of the collections. The intern will be responsible for choosing artifacts and writing label copy for the recent acquisition hall case.

Student Requirements
Applicant must be a graduate student with a major in Museum Studies, Historical Administration, Public History, Art, Anthropology, or related field.

To be eligible for a North Dakota State Government Stipend Student Internship, a student:

 Must be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program in the United States, and
 Must be able to receive academic credit for the internship, and
 Must be at least of sophomore standing by the beginning of the internship (or must have completed the first year of a vocational/technical program by the beginning of the internship), and
 Must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
