POSITION TITLE: Director

MUSEUM: The Stanly County Historic Preservation Commission Museum

CITY & STATE: Albemarle, North Carolina

SALARY: $24,165-$37,690

HOURS: 37.50 per week, Monday thru Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM; must be
willing and able to work occasional Saturday and evening hours.

SPECIFICATIONS: Administration of county history museum consisting of
Visitor Center and two historic homes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: B.A. in museum studies, history, art history, or
related field. M.A. in museum studies, history, art history, or related
field preferred. Excellent communications and public relations skills.
Experience with use of email, Internet and Microsoft small business
applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, FrontPage, and
Publisher. Previous museum experience, including internships and volunteer
service, preferred. Must be able to physically perform basic life functions
of stooping, reaching, standing, walking pushing, pulling, fingering,
grasping, talking, hearing, and repeating motions.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Collections management and registration; physical plant
management; exhibit maintenance and development; historic research; public
programming development; recruitment and training of volunteer corps;
publication of quarterly newsletter and press releases; coordinate
membership drive; draft and administer department budget; work closely with
board of directors, county manager, elected county commissioners, museum
staff, volunteers, educators, and representatives of local media. All

urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use.
