Good Morning all,

I thought I'd chime in here. I switched from Light Impressions to
University Products when the former stopped carrying the Liquid label
products. However, I have just discovered that there is probably a better
and more reliable source. Since archeological projects tend to produce
large quantities of materials most of which have to be labeled, we use B-72
in large quantities. I found a vendor in California that sells not only the
crystals to mix your own B-72 (in colors if need be), they also sell smaller
bottles comparable to University Products. The products come as 1 oz or 8 oz
bottles - clear or opaque. The 1 oz bottles are only $4.95. The opaque
solutions from Light Impressions and now University products are too thin
for our use and sometimes the clear was also.

Check them out http://www.silcom.com/~css/.

Subject: liquid label?

Hello, all,

In the past, we used Liquid Label from Light Impressions as an undercoat
when labeling artifacts. I have just discovered that the product has been
discontinued and neigther Gaylord nor Light Impressions can recommend
anything comparable. Anyone know what's going on? Can anyone tell me what
else I should be using and where I can buy it?

Thanks,
Erica

I just ordered some Acryloid B-72 Lacquer from
University Products about 5 minutes ago!

Their website is www.universityproducts.com. It is
$6.15 a bottle -- they have clear and white. The neat
thing is that the brush is attached to the top, which
makes application (and clean-up!) a lot easier.

I found them after having the same problem with Light
Impressions. It was on backorder for literally months
before they finally said they couldn't get it.

I have heard of using clear finger nail polish. However, I have never =
used it myself. I know that some museums use Soluvar, but that takes 24 =
hours to dry and I don't have that kind of time when applying a number to =
an object so I have not used it either.

University Products carries a Paraloid B-72 Lacquer for labeling objects. It
is catalog number 039-1000 (clear) or 039-2000 (opaque) and costs around
$6.15. You can order it online at www.universityproducts.com or call them
at
800-628-1912.
