***************An Invitation to Visit ******************
                  The Internet Forum
at the AAM Conference Exhibit Hall
******************************************************

The Getty Art History Information Program (AHIP) invites all AAM conference
participants to visit the Internet Forum at the AAM Exhibit Hall in the
Minneapolis Convention Center.

The Internet Forum is a hands-on exhibit that displays the potential of the
WorldWide Web for professionals in the cultural heritage community. The
Forum has a series of workstations, all connected to the Internet, which
can be used to explore the resources available on the networks.

Also available for use at the center is "a.k.a.", AHIP's newly developed
Internet search aide that uses structured vocabularies (like the Art and
Architecture Thesaurus) as intermediary tools to simplify and enhance
searching *across* separate information sources. As part of AHIP's
Intellectual Integration Program, "a.k.a." demonstrates the potential of
networked access to cultural heritage information by integrating disparate,
on-line sources into a single, virtual database.

AHIP's purpose in sponsoring the Internet Forum is to provide the community
with an opportunity to explore cultural heritage information available on
the Internet; to highlight some of the challenges that exist when trying to
access this information; and to demonstrate AHIP projects and programs that
address these challenges for the arts and humanities.
Joining us at the Forum this year is The Museum Computer Network and the
American Association of Museums.

The Internet Forum will be featured at the Minneapolis Convention Center,
Exhibit Hall 3 on:

Sunday, May 5 11:00AM to 5:30PM
Monday, May 6 9:45AM to 5:30PM
Tuesday, May 7 9:45AM to 2:00PM

Stop by to visit the Forum, try out "a.k.a.," surf the 'Net, or just chat
about developments in the area of online resources for cultural heritage
information. We look forward to seeing you there.
