Several of the non-federal museums in Washington, DC have formed
consortiums for various purposes. A group of smaller institutions in the
Dupont-Kalorama area have pooled resources for marketing. A different
group (there may be some overlap) have put together something called the
Museum Bus, which picks up people from the Mall (where tourists
congregate) and takes them to the various museums for a set price that's
good for several days. I think that technically the user buys a
temporary membership in all of the participating museums for one set fee
that entitles the user to the transportation and free admission.

Contact the Corcoran Gallery of Art for information on the Museum Bus;
for the Dupont-Kalorama group, contact the Woodrow Wilson House or the
Textile Museum.
