The Texas Association of Museums has placed its Action Plan for
Multicultural Initiatives in Texas Museums publication entirely on-line.

http://www.io.com/~tam/multicultural/actionplan.html

This publication provides a step-by-step, broadly based self-study,
suggestions for goals and strategies, and guidelines for creating a plan
to increase diversity in programs, staff, exhibits, etc. The Action Plan
also includes case studies, resources, bibliography, and more.

The Action Plan has been used by institutions around the world,
including South Africa and Australia, as well as museums and
universities around the country. Several university museum school
programs incorporated the Action Plan into their classes. The Funding
Information Center modelled diversity workshops created for the City of
San Antonio on the Action Plan. Museums who've purchased the Action
Plan include the Alaska State Museum, National Museum of American
History, St. Louis Art Museum, Cheekwood Museum of Art, Arizona Museum
for Youth, and the Denton County Historical Museum.

The Texas Association of Museums has placed the entire publication
on-line free of charge as part of its continuing efforts to promote
sensitivity to diversity in museums. We are continuing to track how the
Action Plan is being used around the country (and outside the country as
well). Please let us know at [log in to unmask] about your experiences with the
Action Plan. Thanks.
