Charles Randles asked about museums in Vietnam and Cambodia:

I thought maybe you might want to know about P.D.R. Laos too? (same
general region, wonderful country). There is the National Museum
(art and antiquities) in Luangphabang which is quite beautiful,
although the less-than-regular visting hours (basically decided by
whoever is working that day) make it slightly difficult to visit!
Also, about an hour and a half north on the Mekong are the Pak Ou
caves, incredible cultural property now protected by the Lao
government with assistance from UNESCO. A team of conservators from
the University of Canberra was working in conjunction with the Lao
government to provide basic stabilization and perhaps climate control
for the 2,000+ wooden Buddha figurines inside the cave. Really
incredible stuff.

I really loved my trek there.
