Has anyone out there accepted digital images for
juried art competitions? If so, what kind of
requirements did you set for the images? What kind of
formats did you accept (jpeg, tiff, etc.)? Did you
have naming requirements? Was it a successful venture
or just a big headache?

I am working with a local group that has sponsored a
juried art show for the last three years. We
currently accept slides of the work which are reviewed
and accepted/rejected by our jurors. We have had
several requests to allow digital entries. We did
accept a few last year and printed the images, with
the caveat to the artists that they would likely
suffer as the digital image quality did not compare
with the slide images.

Accepting digital images seems like a great way to
reduce costs for the artists, and we do have access to
an LCD projector so that digital images could be
viewed the same way we view slides. However we don't
have anyone in our group with expertise in digital
photography and so are unsure if we want to make this
an option.

Please feel free to reply on or off list.

Thanks,
