What about students at institutions which don't credit internships?  Mine
doesn't, meaning that any internship is done for my personal benefit and
is only listed on my resume.  And I couldn't afford to not work during
the summer and attend school in the fall.  Add this to the fact that my
college isn't located in a major cultural center making academic-year
internships feasible.... I think this is the situation of many college
students.
