Subject: The British Museum Conference

                               IMAGING THE PAST:

Electronic Imaging and Computer Graphics in Museums and Archaeology

A conference to be held at
                           The British Museum, London,
                             3rd-5th November, 1994.

                              LAST CALL FOR PAPERS

Electronic imaging and computer-assisted graphics are increasingly important
in museum and archaeological work, in areas as diverse as education, gallery
display, scientific examination, excavation and fieldwork. To provide a
forum for workers in these fields to share experience and expertise,
the British Museum is hosting a conference for which papers are invited.

The response to the first call resulted in offers of papers from a wide
range of disciplines including:

3D Reconstruction of Archaeological and Architectural Sites
Image Processing for Conservation, Analysis and Art Historical Research
Multimedia, Computer Animation and Image Databases
    Geographic Information Systems

Some of the papers address specific projects, others take a more theoretical
stance address the use of computers within Museums now and in the next
millennium. The organisers intend to offer a platform to suit all
researchers in this field whether they have completed a major project or
wish to describe work in progress.

Anyone wishing to present a paper or poster should submit an abstract as
soon as possible or by 15th August 1994 at the latest. Abstracts should
fit on a single side of A4 paper and must include the title of the paper
and names and addresses of authors. If you intend to demonstrate software
or equipment please send details of your space, hardware and other
requirements by 15th August 1994. If you simply wish to attend please
send details your name and address to be added to the mailing list.
Registration forms will be mailed in August 1994.

The conference will be in English, is non-residential and there will be no
parallel sessions. The organisers regret that they cannot offer
financial assistance to delegates.
