Phrases such as "5 years experience" will have to be shown as essential to
the job description, not simply a bar as we used to see in racial
discrimination, (asking for qualifications that weren't relevant in order
to exclude a section of the population). Employers will need to be sure
that the requirements are genuinely relevant.

There is a very interesting discussion of all the implications at
http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/audio/41278000/rm/_41278764_age11_11_05.ram
(it's a 'listen again' feature of their programme 'Law in Action' If the
long url doesn't work, this shorter one will get you there:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/law_in_action/4429220.stm

Listen again is only available for one week from the broadcast (Friday 11
September 2006)
