Okay, I'd like to point out that right now the slump in the American economy
has hit museums especially hard, since we all depend on grants from
corporations and wealthy individuals who are now tightening their own
beltstraps. Even though this is making my own job search especially hard
(because I am a soon-to-be laid-off webmaster/graphics designer competing
with all the other recently laid-off webmasters), I have had a lot of really
positive support from colleagues in and around the museum world.

Their support in turn reflects positively on their professionalism because
they're willing to offer a little advice, and can demonstrate their
knowledge in the field at the same time. I think this should be a guiding
principle on listserv etiquette as well--and something I learned in
Kindergarten--"if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything
at all!"

I can certainly say from my own perspective that the positive support and
feedback I've received--although it hasn't yet resulted in a job-- has been
much needed and appreciated, especially in these hard times.

Museum Employees of the World, Unite!

Warmest Regards

Troy Whitbread
