Position Announcement

The National Faculty is a 30-year-old non-profit organization that develops
multi-year content-based programs for K-12 teachers in collaboration with
leading humanities, arts and science professors from national and regional
colleges and universities.  The Morris Museum of Art, located in Augusta,
Georgia, is a cultural facility which collects, preserves, researches,
exhibits and interprets American works of art focusing upon, but not
limited to, the American South.  An extensive museum educational program,
which includes pre-service and in-service training, curriculum-based
resources, and student programs, emphasizes art as a focal point for
interdisciplinary studies in the classroom.

The National Faculty and the Morris Museum of Art are seeking to fill the
term position of Program Officer for an innovative, teacher in-service
program by mid-September.  In consultation with a dynamic team of museum
curators, educators and academic faculty, the Program Officer will
coordinate the in-service program; schedule school-year and summer
sessions; serve as liaison to teachers, district administrators, university
faculty and other key stakeholders; and document and evaluate the program.
This position will be situated at the Morris Museum of Art.   This is an
exciting opportunity for an energetic, creative person to help develop and
coordinate a new program.

The successful candidate will be a self-starting and industrious individual
who possesses a M.A. in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
Preference given to persons with administrative and K - 12 teaching
experience.  Knowledge of educational research and evaluation, teacher
education programs, and distance education is desirable.  Candidate must be
able to work cooperatively in a museum environment with an
interdisciplinary team of professionals.  Excellent oral and written
communication skills, and interpersonal, organizational and time management
skills are essential.  As this position requires field work in schools
across a four-district area, a valid driver's license is essential.  Annual
salary range is $28,000 - 33,000/year, commensurate with qualifications.
