I'm presuming you researched the COol archives, and I know Tom Strang of
the CCI has done research and made recommendations on freezing. You should
have no problem getting solid recommendations.

I would suggest you consider using polyester batting instead of acid-free
tissue. It's easy to cut, tear, and shape, lofts well and returns to its
shape after compression, doesn't hold moisture, and is much less expensive
for stuffing than good rag tissue.
There's some information in the do-it-yourself section of gowncare.com for
how to test the batting for starches, but I recommend the following: Find a
locally-based furniture or pillow maker or upholsterer. Ask them for their
source of polyester batting, then confirm the composition of the batting
with the manufacturer (pure polyester, no resins or starches). If it is
pure, then buy a few pounds from your local source- it will go a long way,
save you time and money, and it's a pleasure to use for shaping.
