Bonni,
We don't do homes, but here at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville the campus
is our gallery. Just about every office, conference room, hallway (private and public) and
outdoor site has objects from our collections installed. At last count we're talking about
a little over 5,000 pieces on display at any given time. These are in about 23 separate
buildings. Yes, it is a lot of work to secure and care for. However, to work / study here
surrounded by a variety of art and artifacts is a treat. About the only places we don't
install work are the classrooms & bathrooms. We also have another 100,000 objects
in storage. And when ever we get our hands on a display case, "Bam", more work goes
out. There are various exhibits all over the place.
So, your president wants to exhibit (lets not use the word decorate) in his/her office?
Get some objects out of storage and let folks see 'em!!

Our practice has always been to refuse such requests. Are there any official published guidelines - AAM or ACUMG - we can quote in support of our position?
