Subject: Here's data on number of museums

According to a study conducted by the Association of Museum Associations,
the number of museums currently in the US is near 15,000 (This DOES NOT
conform to IMLS' museum definition but the membership and records held by
state museum associations.

Subject: Count of museums...

I read in an old edition of MUSEUM NEWS (1984) that there were 5,000 museums
in
America. Does anyone have an updated figure on total US museums, and how
many
there are in other parts of the world...total museums? Thank you. John
Martinson
