Applications are now available on the Upstate History Allianceıs website,
www.upstatehistory.org for the 2004 Museum Institute at Sagamore.  This
yearıs institute is designed for curators and others with responsibility for
developing interpretive exhibitions and other interpretive materials.
Topics will include Developing Collections Plans to Reflect Diverse
Communities,  Telling Difficult Stories, Managing Interpretive Change and an
Introduction to Exhibition Evaluation.

The Institute will be held at Great Camp Sagamore, a National Historic
Landmark in the Adirondacks,  from September 28-October 1 and is open to
participants throughout New York State.   The number of participants is
limited to 20 so that we may provide an intensive learning and networking
experience.  Applications are due July 1;  successful applicants will be
notified by July 15.

Previous Institute speakers have included George Hein,  Elaine Gurian, Lynn
Dierking, Dorothy Chen-Courtin, Chris Clarke and others.  Previous
participants have described the Institute as:

The cost of the Institute, including lodging, meals and all institute
materials is $300.  Go Grants for professional development are available to
organizations in New York State; consult UHAıs website for more information.
