Hello everyone-
My name is Gretchen Deitze and as you can probably tell, I'm a new member
to
this list. I found it accidentally as I was skimming the net for
archaeological and anthropological graduate school and career info. Anyway,
let me tell you a bit about myself.
I am graduating Agnes Scott College, here in Atlanta, on May 17 with a BA
in
history, and a minor in art history. My main focus is European history/art
from well..the dawn of time.hehe to 1945. I'm also a HUGE fan of human
origins and such, as well as Egyptology and the Holocaust. I'd like to get
my master's eventually, but for now as you can probably imagine, I'm having
to force my way through the job market to find something to keep my head
above water for a while.
I joined the list because I would like to learn more about the
history/archaeological/anthropological fields, I guess in a way, to help me
feel positive about my potential future. I have Diastrophic Dwarfism, which
only makes me 3ft tall. I do walk but for long distances I use an electric
wheelchair. So I'm curious about my chances of even having a career in
these
fields because of the lack of accessibility. I mean, the pyramids didn't
exactly have wheelchair ramps :P Anyway, any advice and input will be
greatly appreciated. I am sure I'll fit right in as I get more used to the
postings and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to
contact me. The more friends the merrier!
Gretchen
