I agree, but I am torn....I open my e-mail every morning to 20+ e-mails ,
most are RE's, too, and it seems to make more sense to answer directly to
the person of the original origin of the message, rather that "Reply to
Author", which goes directly to the List.

The other side of this is that the comments are interesting, and can lead
to other resources of information as well.
