Hi,

I'm busy with my final thesis on the University of Utrecht (The
Netherlands). My specialisation is arts and education. The thesis will be
about the way commercial (business) companies 'deal with' their
art-collections. (If any)
At this moment i've gathered information about those companies and their
projects in the Netherlands, and now i'd like to know about foreign
companies.

I'm interested in the relation between business companies with an
art-collection and educational programms (presentation), because i want to
compare the situation in other countries with our own.

Therefor i will briefly view the situation as it is in The Netherlands:

The government has always played an important role in the 'world of art
and education'. At a given time certain companies decided to collect art
as well (sculptures, paintings etc.).
Right now the government has decided to invest less and the companies take
over the role of collecting art more and more. However, the main goal of
those companies ofcourse will remain their original business.
Because of this all, art can be found almost everywhere inside buildings
of companies, but it seems like if everything is said with this. (For
certain exceptions ofcourse)

If you can provide me with information about the situation in your
country, please respond by email to:

My main interest lies in the things (e.g. guided tours, exhibitions,
forums, magazines, colums) that _do_ happen with the collections, rather
than in the things that _don't_ :-)
Special interest goes to companies that organize art-related activities
for their employees.

With thank,

Erna Stoop
