I am re-posting this message without the attachment.  Apparently some folks
on the list are not able to open attachments.  I have included the job
posting below.   The person currently in the position is leaving the country
in a month and would like to train her replacement.  However, if we are not
able to hire someone within that time frame,  we will hire an interim
(local) person for a couple of months until the right candidate is found.

Proyecto Futuro Coordinator
New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science

Proyecto Futuro is an outreach program of the New Mexico Museum of Natural
History & Science that includes teacher professional development and family
workshops. The focus of the project is twofold: 1) to help teachers
integrate more hands-on science into their classroom teaching and 2) to
encourage and assist parents in becoming more involved with their children's
education (with an emphasis on science education).

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The project coordinator will have full responsibility for coordinating all
aspects of the project. This includes, but is not limited to, communicating
with teachers at the participating schools on a regular basis, planning &
implementing all workshops (minimum of 10 parent workshops and 6 teacher
workshops per school year), hiring contract personnel for the workshops,
developing and mailing a newsletter to over 200 parents and teachers, and
keeping detailed records of all activities pertaining to the project.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
· Proficiency with computer programs for word processing (MSWord) and
desktop publishing (Publisher); familiarity with data base management &
spreadsheet programs would be a plus 
· Spanish-English bilingual preferred
· Science education background would be a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Interact with the 11 schools involved in the project on an ongoing basis 
· Interact with vendors on an ongoing basis (e.g., printers, suppliers,
etc.)
· Hire and interact with contract personnel on an ongoing basis (e.g.,
instructors, parent assistants, van drivers, etc.)
· Handle administrative tasks (maintaining detailed records, developing
invoices, etc.)
· Plan and implement all family workshops (develop and deliver flyers to
advertise workshops, coordinate with instructors and evaluator, buy and
organize materials needed, make copies of handouts needed, hire assistants
and drivers, buy/order food needed for evening, coordinate with Museum staff
for room and sound system set-up)
· Plan and implement teacher training workshops (many of the same duties as
those described above under family workshops)
· Develop a pool of guest scientists to schedule as speakers for parent
workshops
· Develop and mail out a quarterly (bilingual) newsletter for parents and
teachers

SALARY RANGE:  $10.00-12.50 per hour/30-35 hours per week (year-round
position)

BEGINNING DATE:  February 28,2000 (there is some flexibility)
