Hi Lee,

I have a suggestion which has more to do with your interest in military
history than being in NC specifically. You can check for federal museum
jobs through usajobs.com. That covers all the military branches museums
as well as NPS, State Dept., Smithsonian etc. I am a former Army Museum
System employee who did the unthinkable and actually left the federal
system. I was the museum technician (collections) at the 1st Cavalry
Division Museum at Fort Hood for 6 years and then transferred to a Curator
spot at the U.S. Army Center of Military History’s clearinghouse in
Anniston, Alabama.

Fayetteville might be too far away, but they have a couple of Army museums
there. The Airborne and Special Ops museum is outstanding but a rarity
among the Army museums because of their outside financial support. If you
have been there, don’t let that set the standard for you.

You can contact me off list if you have any questions about navigating the
system.
