ASSISTANT MANAGER OF SPECIAL EVENTS


The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks An
Assistant Manager of Special Events for its Special Events Department.  The
Assistant Manager assists with the management of the operations of an active
Museum calendar, which includes press reviews, small lunches, receptions,
opening dinners, and benefits.  The Assistant Manager is responsible for all
décor and design aspects of Museum events, including managing the Museum's
relationship with its external florist.  The Assistant Manager manages the
Museum's central events calendar, insuring that the appropriate events are
on the Director's and President's calendars, communicating with internal
departments regarding the details of upcoming events, and confirming with
the appropriate departments that all necessary approvals have been received.
The Assistant Manager oversees the execution of corporate and in-house
events, including preparing budgets and coordinating the logistical and
creative arrangements.  The ideal candidate must have significant events
planning experience and design skills. A minimum of 5 to 7 years
professional experience is required.  Good communications skills,
self-motivation, budget experience, and ability to manage multiple projects
at one time.  Salary commensurate with experience and excellent benefits.
