There is an enormous row brewing in Nagasaki prior to the re-opening of
the Atomic Museum on Monday April 1st after a complete renewal of the
exhibitions. There seems to have been an EXACT mirror-image of last
year's Smithsonian troubles - with demands for the removal of
sections about the implications of Japanese inter-War militarism,
treatment of prisoners of war etc., and there are rumoured to have even
been personal threats against museum staff and key local politicians in
Nagasaki by far-right groups.

The London "Independent" newspaper had the latest on this in yesterday's
edition, and I will see if this article is available on line anywhere,
and report back. Failing that I will try to post a summary sometime in
the next few days - though our very severe UK copyright laws limit the
amount that could be included.

If anyone finds anything elsewhere (? NYT or CNN on-lines perhaps) please
post details to the list.
