Cheryl,

The Oregon Coast Aquarium has a number of volunteer committees, such
as the Volunteer Council, the Newsletter Committees, the Social
Committee, the Training Committee and the Enrichment Committee.
Each serves a different function. The Council is the representative body
for all the volunteers (docents, shop, greeters, animal and behind the
scenes volunteers) and serves as a liaison between the paid staff and
volunteers.  The Newsletter committee produces the volunteer newsletter;
the social committee plans social events for the volunteers, the Training
committee organizes the coordination of the biannual new volunteer
training classes as well as teaching parts of the course, and the
Enrichment committee plans the continuing education programs for the
volunteers. There is a member of the volunteer staff (there are three staff
members) serving one each committee. For more info, you should
contact Irene VanDusen, who runs the program. I don't have her phone
number with me, but if you got to their web site (www.aquarium.org) and
call the main number, they can connect you.

Hope that helps.
