the issue of illegal looting appears to have morphed into an issue of legal 
aquisition and cultural property. theft is theft either by an individual or 
an institution. legal sale with clear title is a horse of a different color.

and the legal issues of the getty should certainly be left to the countries, 
courts, firms and individuals directly involved. this isn't the forum for 
people not involved in the case to gossip.
