There is a book called Reading French in the Arts and Sciences. I used this
book at a class that I took at the New School in NY. Within the book are vocal
lists, grammatical lessons and passages for translation. The book is geared
toward reading only and it is very helpful in demonstrating translation as
opposed to conversational french.

Hope this helps!

>With all the talk on languages found in children books for possible sources
of learning/improving a language in Europe I was wondering if there may be any
suggestions on publishing companies, book series or titles/author in regards
to learning how to speak French quickly. Thank you to all those who reply and
keep up the great discussions!
