Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN has a Public History
department offering minors in Museum Studies, Cultural Resources Management,
and an excellent (well-respected) program in Historic Preservation.  The
degree requirements are strict by most standards - both comprehensive exams
and thesis are required.  I have found the faculty there to be top-notch.
Cost of living in the area is relatively low.
