If the actual need is to be able to share resources and expertise and to
supply assistance to other smaller museums, it can be worked out in
other ways without staff as members of other institutions boards.  The
five largest museums and the regional museum association in the
panhandle of Texas formed a Museum Resource Sharing Consortium with the
purpose of assisting other museums in this region that need and request
assistance.  Professional assistance is available in development, needs
assessment, grantwriting, exhibit development and construction,
collection management, programing, etc. There are a variety of ways to
share information outside of the board of trustees.
