Hi Jayne,

I managed to track down the following (at
www.cee-ane.org/Grapevine/gvf98.pdf):

"Baba Dioum is an African [Senegalese] environmental
planner who said this during a 1968 general assembly
of the International Union for Conservation of Nature
and Natural Resources in New Delhi, India."

Apparently, this quotation is also written on the tunnel
leading to the entrance to the Bronx Zoo -- if any New
Yorker's can provide verify?

Dioum has been refered to as a conservationist, ecologist,
environmentalist, naturalist, poet, writer . . .

Hope this helps . . .
