At the risk of combining two threads, here is a bit of controversy and humor:
I worked on an exhibit about Tlingit people that was co-curated by Tlingit
people. One of the elders commended our research and the proposed story but
thought that we should leave out the part about Tlingit's having slaves.
"Those people buried at the foot of totem poles WANTED to die and be buried
there, he said."
