Ok, I just showed cultural ignorance.  I apologize to anyone that has taken offense to my Poofter
remark.  It seems that poofter (not poofda) is as follows:

Aaron - must admit I wondered if you were referring to that joke - trouble is that the spelling is
'poofter'. Not sure whether you realise but 'poofter' actually stands for gay men (ie male
homosexuals).'
