Helms Hall of Fame was founded in 1936 by Paul H. Helms and his
family. Mr. Helms was the owner of the Helms Bakery in Culver City.
The Helms Athletic Foundation was financially supported by the Helms
family for several years. The collection grew to include a sports
library, museum and local, national and international awards programs.
The Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles (http;//www.aafla.com)
has since inherited the original collection and now manages a sports
library and foundation in Los Angeles. (The original photographs are
stored in the library)
The museum no longer exists; however, the art and artifact collection
is maintained at the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles.
There are display cases in the library which showcase many items from
the items in the collection. If you have questions regarding the
artifacts you can contact Karen Goddy (who is on this list).
