The lowest salaries I have heard of recently are the equivalent of US$ 6
(yes, six dollars!) a month for senior graduate professionals in some of
the smaller ex-USSR states (e.g. Armenia), while $20 a month is far from
unusual in Russian museums (at current exchange rates) - against a "basic
survival" cost of living of at least $20 a week....
