Full-time, salaried position

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Collections and
Programs (DCP) will fill the role of curator of the museum as well as
administer the Collections and Programs department.  The DCP directly
supervises two full-time staff members, a number of part-time staff
members, an active internship program, and a dedicated volunteer corps. 
Numbering over 60,000 items, the museum collection includes such diverse
items as fine art, decorative art, archives, photographs, ephemera,
historical objects, and much more.  The DCP will be responsible for
creating exhibitions from the collection as well as administering
traveling exhibitions.  The museum is in the midst of an automation and
inventory project.  The DCP administers this project and should be very
proficient with automated collections software as well as word
processing, digital imaging, and spreadsheet applications.  Knowledge of
graphic design applications is desired but not required.  The ideal
candidate will have a strong background in museum studies and
connoisseurship of American material culture as well as experience
managing diverse museum programming.  The successful candidate should
posses a masters degree in material culture, art history, history, or
museum studies plus four to five years experience.  Competitive salary
