Terms of positions:  Two 28 week internships with start date in May.  Regular work week Monday through Friday plus alternating weekend duty with compensatory time off.     

Location:  Homestead Prairie Farm, an 1860 living history house museum, is located on the grounds of  the Rock Springs Conservation Area near Decatur, Illinois.  For more information about the historic site go to:   www.maconcountyconservation.org 

Salary/Stipend/Housing:  $8.50/hour for 40 hours per week. Interns receive a $250 monthly housing stipend.  No on-site housing is available.        

Duties :
Interpretation---The intern will assist in the third person interpretation of Homestead Prairie Farm. The main feature is the Trobaugh-Good House which is listed on the National Register.  The duties include working with staff and volunteers to provide tours and history programs for the general public during regular weekend hours and also for schools and other groups by appointment  either on-site or as outreach.  There are no farm animals and no animal care duties.    

Youth Programs---The interns will co-manage one Pioneer Adventure Summer Day Camp and one Junior Pioneer Adventure Summer Day Camps.  Each of the camps meet for 3 hours on a different weekday morning for 6 weeks. Each camp is limited to 12 children so camper to staff ratio is at maximum 6:1. Campers will range in age from K – 6th grade. 

Collections/Exhibits:  The interns will help with traveling exhibits, assist in collections processing and inventory and with recordkeeping of reproduction period clothing worn by staff and volunteers for tours and programs.      

Research/Educational/Administrative-----The interns will assist with research projects, newsletter duties, volunteer management, special events, some housekeeping/maintenance duties for the historic site and purchasing.
