For a good group of papers on various aspects of the conservation of sacred
objects see the journal of the American Institute for Conservation (JAIC 1992
Vol.31 No.1).

The papers are now accessible online on the AIC web site. Go to the JAIC
index page and scroll down to the above referenced issue.

Also, at the Objects Specialty Group Program, in June 2003, we had an
excellent paper by the conservation staff of the National Museum of the American
Indian on:  "The Practical Aspects on Consultation With Communities". The abstract
