For special nails try the:

Tremont Nail Co.
P.O. Box 111
Wareham, MA 02571
(508)295-0038

They specialize in "old fashioned nails" for authentic restoration and
antique effect. The company has been around since 1819. They have a lot
of different kinds of nails including a sample set that's about $10
which shows the history of cut nails in America. The set comes
displayed on a piece of heavy cardboard with text about the nails. As an
archaeologist I have found this set very useful for identifing historic
nails.
